What’s The IDC About?
To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) you must attend an Instructor Development Course (IDC). This is a program during which you will learn about PADI system and how to teach PADI courses like Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and Divemaster.
Your dive theory knowledge must be up-to-date, there is no teaching of it during the IDC. If you feel that you need some additional tuition, I can arrange for you prior to IDC a preparation session.
During the IDC we will teach you how to prepare classroom teaching presentations, confines water presentations and open water presentations. We will also give you an overview of the dive industry and give you hints and tips for your future career as PADI Instructor.
After passing the IDC you will attend an IE (Instructor Examination). This is conducted by independent PADI examiner, and must be done within 12 months after completing of the IDC. In Pattaya you have this possibility almost every month and if necessary within Thailand even more often. For the schedule please refer to IDC-IE-Calender.
